Cycling death a year ago, this happening now. Small, but important. Signals change in this car city. We persuaded City Council over the objections of the City's Transportation Dept. The intersection will be safer for those on cycling & walking. Two articles from the Saskatoon Star Phoenix quoting me on behalf of Saskatoon Cycles & Tod Fox, husband of Natasha who was killed in this intersection. #cycling #yxe #Saskatoon #activeTransportation

Why go thru a Window when you can use a door? Installed Linux (debian) on 10yr old free-to-me HP business laptop. 20 minutes. Deleted Windows7. It found the network printers/scanners during install. Took 5 minutes to ssh (secure shell) link it to the other even older laptops I've collected. I bought a battery for it for $47. There is no reason to have 7 old laptops except that they all work fine. #Linux #computers #windows

In Saskatchewan, Canada, the provincial gov't actually penalizes EVs with a $150 extra fee. Symbolic. These rightwingers don't actually believe Sask should really do anything positive about much of anything. https://www.saskatchewan.ca/government/news-and-media/2021/april/20/new-annual-fee-of-$150-on-electric-vehicles #ClimateEmergency #climateChange #Saskatchewan #electricvehicles

@crispius@mstdn.crispius.ca Thats "not even wrong". The purpose of incentives in favour of EVs is to enhance uptake of them. Elsewhere. The Sask gov't decided that fossil fuel vehicles are virtuous and EVs are to be discouraged. @dan613 @engineering

Why wouldn't I block it? https://blokada.org Alexa or Siri routes all your requests thru its servers & uses this to build a nonconsensual surveillance dossier on you. Secretly records your speech, sending it to their servers even when you're not interacting with them. https://www.sciencealert.com/creepy-new-amazon-patent-would-mean-alexa-records-everything-you-say-from-now-on #google #apple #siri #alexa #privacy #surveillance #advertising #Tracking #android #apple

Bike to Work Day. Cyclist hit by car driver. Absolutely no excuse not to have safe cycling infrastructure- lanes, lights, intersections- all designed to slow car drivers down, make it safe for all ages to travel outside of cars. https://www.facebook.com/groups/363896286655681/posts/370251099353533/ #yxe #cycling #saskatoon #driving #biketowork #bike

Destroy every place that Russia launches drones, planes, missles from. Destroy all troop locations, all transportation hubs. Make it impossible for the invader to continue the atrack. Destroy Putin and his conspirators too. But this may take the dictator's palace guard eliminating this crazed paranoid evil man. https://www.dw.com/en/ukraine-updates-western-weapons-used-in-kursk-russia-says/live-69967424

EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) Eye movements have no neurological effect. The explanations offered are nonsense. They *might* provide dual attention & grounding: you're thinking both of your trauma & focusing on your eye movements. But there's nothing special re eye movements. Zero. Exposure & managing arousal are the key ingredients to trauma therapy. So I won't object to EMDR but I won't specially approve funding. Ok so...

"if Poilievre has a set of proposals that would achieve the same level of emissions reductions at a lower cost, he could always just present it. To date, he hasn't...Stephen Harper's Conservative government, argued that "Canadian conservatives shouldn't shy away from climate policy.".Harper himself called it "perhaps the biggest threat to confront the future of humanity today." https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/climate-change-ca...
