Here is the regional breakdown of the poll commissioned yesterday by @channel4news@birdsite.tcjc.uk - the poll asked whether voters would vote SNP at the next General Election if a victory could lead to Scotland leaving the UK. Excluding don’t knows the overall figure was 60%. Highest support in NE (which includes Dundee), Glasgow & West. #ScottishIndependence

Here’s a comparison of the regional breakdown from the two recent polls which asked proxy questions about independence. The Ipsos one asked about future preferences, the Channel 4 one asked about voting SNP at GE. Chart shows the proxy #Yes figures are broadly similar. Support for #scottishindependence strongest in Glasgow , NE, West & Central; weakest in the South.

ELAINE C SMITH ‘I doubt if the people of India or Ireland or Norway when striving for self determination and a right to govern themselves asked only if they would be richer or better off? Surely being an independent country is as much to do with how we feel in our hearts and minds’ #scottishindependence #Indyref2

Yesterday’s #Indyref2 poll shows the increase in #Yes has come through increases among 35+ age groups. The biggest jump is among the 65+ group which has grown by 9 points since last September.

Looking at what might be driving the 9 point #Yes increase among older voters, This chart shows the net difference between influencing a Yes vote or a No vote across various different issues. Among this age group, the Truss/ Kwarteng minibudget had the biggest net impact (+16) on Yes, followed by drop in value of £ (+3) and Sunak becoming PM (+3). Aside from Covid, all other issues were more likely to benefit No. Data us from Redfield & Wilton #Indyref2 poll published yesterday.

@Peternimmo indeed, but young people are less likely to vote

Some sharp gender differences appearing on what drives #Yes support in #indyref2. Overall the 2 key issues with traction for males & females are the ‘minibudget’ and Brexit (both imposed on Scotland by Tories). Other issues (Covid, Cost of Living, £ value) have more traction with females. This info is from the Redfield & Wilton poll from 30th November.

Labour's Scottish branch office could be in trouble if the next General Election focuses on Independence. Consistently, around a third of its 2019 voters now support #Yes. The constitutional crumbs offered by Brown will not make much of an impact. #Indyref2

The record #Yes figure recorded by @yougov has been attributed to the Supreme Court decision. But lack of polling during the summer means we don’t know what cumulative impact of other factors has been. 🔴Truss debacle 🔴Sunak anointed 🔴Starmer coming out as pro Brexit 🔴Economic mismanagement

Recent #indyref2 polling confirms the significant backing for self-determination among pro-EU voters. We were lied to in 2014 and taken out of Europe by another country's voters. Independence is the only way back from #Brexit.

I’ve mapped the constituencies of MPs who have been campaigning in #Rutherglen . It’s clear that UK Labour are throwing everything at winning, but will the electorate appreciate so many campaigners from outside Scotland, or see this as desperation?

@Peternimmo I’ve not heard about any LibDem presence, but I’ve not actively searched. The yellow is SNP, libs could only dream of that many MPS!
