I firmly believe that children shouldn't just be seen and not heard. But they could be heard a bit less. Please. #parenting

A few weeks ago I had issues with my first try of a #mikrotik router, but it didn't go so well. But they sent it back, having somehow 'restored' the factory settings and I could connect. So ended up learning about #RouterOS and setting it up as an over powered access point https://henryleach.com/2026/10/setup-mikrotik-hap-be-lite-as-an-access-point/ #Networking #router #homelab

One of the annoying things about getting a haircut is having to sit there and listen to the awful music that's being played. When AI takes my job and I've retrained as a hairdresser, I'm going to open a barber's with a good stereo that sells music and call it "Deep Cuts".

This week's #CDFriday is the excellent "You're gonna need a little music" by Yard Act, which they were good enough to sell at their gig, that I got to enjoy the other week. #CD #PhysicalMedia #YardAct

I know you're all desperate for #BandcampFriday recommendations, so how about obscure #PostRock from Nottingham, England? In which case may I present the suitably epically named '...and Stars Collide'? I only know about this band because one of its members was a friend and course mate. He gave me the mp3s years ago, and they occasionally come up, and remind me that they're really nice. The pricing is also fire sale cheap (I'm guessing someone found a box of unsold CDs in th...

Yesterday's #BandcampFriday haul was relatively modest. It would have been more/worse, but a number of releases I tried to buy repeatedly failed to accept payment, but others worked with the same payment details. Anyone else have that? Today's #1001albums is the Red Hot Chili Pepper's Californication. This was everywhere as a teenager; TV, radio and computer games. I owned the tab book and tried to learn a few of the songs to moderate success. In that sense I don't think I'll ever escape it. After all the these years I still feel it is a very mixed bag; the title track plus Parallel Universe, Scar Tissue, Otherside and Road Trippin' are great. But a lot of the rest just feels like a manic mess. Perhaps tha...

@annaleen thank you for selling your #books DRM-Free. That means I could easily buy Automatic Noodle from ebooks.com, download the epub to my 2012 laptop, and load it onto my 2011 ebook reader with a replaced battery, in minutes with zero problems¹. Nothing unnecessarily thrown into landfill for being too old, using the devices and systems I want, without being locked in or tracked. Now I'm looking forward to enjoying the story. 1: Yes, that is a painfully Mastodon sentence.

Today's #WTF moment is brought to you by trying to figure out why 404 pages in my #homeLab coming via a reverse proxy were all mangled and weird. I've tried every combination of gzip on and off, headers, encoding on the #nginx proxy and backend. Then I check the actual 404.html page. I have no idea how that happened. #CaptainItsWednesday #websites
