TestFlight on Vision Pro still sometimes shits the bed, the state of the app gets out of sync and the only way to install the new build is by force quitting TestFlight. It definitely feels like no one at Apple uses it because I’m surprised it’s been this way since the first VisionOS beta. My bad for assuming someone else would report it so, next time it happens (likely my next build), I’ll grab a screenshot and report it.

I’d say for at least the past week, it feels like it it can take forever to charge my iPhone over 60% and it takes longer to get over 75%. I work from home so that’s not a problem as such but feels like it gets warmer while charging, the phone drains quicker too. Then today I got some sort of alert about high CPU usage while I was out for a walk. Turning it off / on didn’t seem to help much but force-quitting apps did. Whatever causes it is not entirely visible from the daily usage graph.

When people say wait for the second version of the Duo, I think that’s just wishful thinking. Foldables will always be a fragile compromise unless we find some magical new way to work around the physics. Sure it would be a nice form factor for an iPad mini but I’d rather spend less on a non-folding iPad mini that won’t run the risk of randomly breaking or, to be honest, has a plastic screen.

I’m for free speech, even non-sense. However, I think the general vibe of the “You can’t yell fire in a theater” mentality needs to trump freedom of speech. Saying absolutely false things about elections, especially by people with power and influence, should be treated as a crime. The same goes for calling El-Sayed a jihadist. TLDR, I don’t think clear lies should fall under freedom of speech. Many countries need to crack down on this given it often falls foul of libel / slander laws anyway.

Since the watchOS 27.2 update the promise of a faster Siri appears to be true. Everything I’ve thrown at it so far responds quickly rather than sitting there forever and sometimes giving up. It’s a clear improvement.

I think a touchscreen MacBook makes less sense than an iPad running macOS.

@markmetz even though fortunately it’s becoming rare to see polystyrene packaging these days, this is still a good idea even if it only helps lead to an all out ban on polystyrene

@kirschner I think it has no choice but to to continue unless there people are forced to switch. Otherwise they will naturally go with what they know. The downside to open hardware is that I think it will always favor whoever has the most money despite ideas that it will produce innovation. At this point I think the only way to combat that would be for governments to give an equal amount of the MS costs to legitimate open source developers.
