I have no patience left to try to make people understand. Be bigoted, be shitty, be ignorant. I don’t have any fucks to give anymore. It „helps“ a bit that whenever I am confused and angry and hurt that I know „Well, it’s not like my parents accept me for who I am, so how much worse can it actually be to realize others don’t?“ When those you are supposed to lean on the most, don’t have your back…what can be more heartbreaking than that anyway?

Love feels alien to me. Most emotions. And whenever I try to articulate these thoughts, I wonder if the other person truly understands what this means to me. Whenever someone gets tired of me or voices their anger and disappointment concerning my lack of emotions, I wonder if anyone truly listens to me when I tell them that „this is not a phase“. I am emotionally stunted and believing „love“ to be this „all-curing potion“ that is supposed to heal me is one of the most self-absorbed beliefs.

I try to be transparent when it comes to who I am. I know there’s an issue with how much I am acting differently on the outside; still, I don’t understand why I am constantly faulted for trying to survive in my own way when being who I am rarely got me anywhere. At least I try to be fair to those who seek out more than just this superficial day to day talk. Is it really my issue when they simply refuse to believe me?

Sometimes all you need is to admit to yourself „No, you can’t do this - and that’s ok.“

In this culture of revering straight up abuse of one’s body and health as „being ambitious“, „driven“ and „disciplined“, I wished we started considering „being oneself“ and „happy“ even if it doesn’t fit the mold of „this should make you happy“ the end goal.

I am not the kindest, most patient and most understanding person. I try my best to not be an outright asshole, but anything aside from that is exhausting me - and I am fucking sick of trying to be who others expect me to be. The expectations can mostly be summed up as „be selfless and never sad or angry“; so more or less make other people‘s lives as comfortable as possible and do it to your own detriment. But DON‘T tell us. Make us believe that it’s effortless and you’re HAPPY doing it.

I am baffled that people are surprised at how the mental health epidemic keeps on growing instead of decreasing. If we keep on seeing human beings as a commodity, a „thing“ to use and throw away whenever it’s outlived its usefulness, we won’t stop people from seeing themselves as exactly that: emotionless, lifeless blobs of flesh that the world can do without.

We all are hurting in our very own ways. Yet, so many of us do not even dare to utter one word of discontent, sorrow and anger. This picture-perfect world in our mind. This flawless being we want to be - it does not exist; still so few admit to that and keep the charade going. And just like a chain of dominoes we fall - together.

"Your body is honest. When you’re in physical pain, you cry. But the heart is a liar. It stays quiet even when it’s hurting. Then, when you’re asleep, you finally weep and whimper like a dog." — It’s Okay to Not Be Okay

"Don’t make the same mistake I did and try to run when you can’t even walk. When you’re tired, get some rest. When you’re sad, go ahead and cry. It’s okay to take a break. Then one day, there will surely come a day when you’ll be able to run again." — It’s Okay to Not Be Okay

"If you want to make people around you happy, you have to find your own happiness first. Being selfish isn’t always a bad thing. Try to only think about your happiness when things are too stressful. It’s okay to do that." — It’s Okay to Not Be Okay
