Google Chrome, nice browser, but it doesn’t support the web.

How about a Markdown web browser. No CSS, no toolkits, just Markdown files. That would be how you would restart the web in 2026.

Yesterday I wrote a piece about a Markdown-only browser, that worked nicely with HTTP. I got interested in what it would take to do this, and asked ChatGPT for a plan. https://gist.github.com/scripting/c81461104f079b7a017802286853c4f1 If you want to implement it, please do. Let me know if you have something to try.

Claude Docs opened yesterday. https://code.claude.com/docs/en/overview AI spilling out onto the web, doing the job that web CMSes now do. Things are moving really quickly now.

If you're still puzzled about what Trump is doing, this clip from Goodfellas explains, and it's a great movie too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPtjyqgZAUk

I like the new design of Mastodon but wonder why the indentation of the text of the post beneath the info about the sender and when it was posted. I've attached a screen shot illustrating. I also like that the "tiny little textbox" isn't quite as tiny. And it grows as you add more text. This is the correct behavior and way better than the text box from the previous version.

    # Using AI to sort out the noise http://scripting.com/2026/06/12/143641.html I put together an app with the help of Claude that takes the name of a place, person or thing, and publishes a page on a static site.

We had the world conned into taking our “dollars” and giving us cars, food, nice vacations, drugs, a huge military, all kinds of manufactured stuff for nothing, and we thought they were ripping us off! So we blew it up. The would-be “Art Of The Con” mastermind undid the biggest con in history.

Mastodon which is incredibly hot, supports RSS beautifully. Just add .rss to any account to get the feed. Amazing! https://mastodon.social/@davew.rss Open that in your favorite feed reader. It’ll work. Post a screenshot, say what the reader app is. And pass this on to everyone who uses a feed reader. Spread the word! This is a huge deal for the open web.

Reporters are ignoring the story of the century, the greatest horserace in American history! Decision 2024! Has American had enough of democracy? Should we return to slavery? Should we burn Jews, immigrants and intellectuals in the ovens? Let's have a good debate about this!

I asked chatgpt if the term "glass palace" had been used to talk about pre-PC computer data centers. Short answer -- yes, see the screen shot for the rest.

this piece opened my eyes about what it's like to be in the middle of the #wordpress open source process. https://www.therepository.email/matt-mullenweg-overrules-core-committers-to-put-akismet-on-wordpress-7-0s-connectors-screen

A note to people working in AT Proto or ActivityPub. MCP looks like a juggernaut. Wrote about it today. https://daveverse.org/2026/04/01/the-fog-of-tech/ We're in the middle of explosive growth in AI. It affects everything. I'm rethinking everything myself.

I’m learning about MCP. Looks familiar, like the glue script files in Frontier. I’m interested in hearing from chatgpt/claude users about whether they use MCP interfaces? Do you use them?

RE: https://daveverse.org/2026/03/28/blueskys-future-for-devs/ BTW, as you read this, note that Mastodon does not have the limits I write about. The whole post is here, including links. They could do a little better, but this is a huge advantage that Mastodon has, thanks to the open power of ActivityPub.

if bluesky wants to be of the web the character limit has to go. the web doesn't have a character limit.

I have a question about Automattic‘s new wordpress server in a sandbox, does it support the wpcom api? Btw, I don’t like slack, and I lost my twitter account so it’s down to Bluesky and mastodon for communicating with other Wordpress devs, unless i’m missing something. 😀 https://my.wordpress.net
