TIL that in #rust, writing this: let _ = semaphore.acquire().await?; Is a terrible idea, if you want to use a semaphore to limit the number of concurrent tasks, because the semaphore is automatically dropped, as the binding is unused. To fix it: let foo = semaphore.acquire().await?; So the compiler will only drop the semaphore when variable foo goes out of scope.

https://jan.wildeboer.net/2025/04/Web-is-Broken-Botnet-Part-2/ So If there are companies out there whose business model is driving botnets, the only thing #anubis ends up doing in practice is draining the battery of the phone of some random guy out there  Because I'm getting 150req/sec, when I should be getting 20. And I'm running anubis. | load average: 68.74, 55.24, 43.47

It's easy to spot vibe-coded #AISlop, at least on the "enterprise" world: If it has comments which are longer than one line, or one sentence, it's vibe-coded. If it doesn't have a single comment, then it's written by a human.

I think I'm developing superpowers: I can spot vibecoded slop even before looking at the repo. Just by the name and the description. Spotted two as of today: "An unofficial GB conversion to ZX Spectrum with eight courses, overhead loops and nitro boosts 🏍️ AY music, split-screen 2-player racing and hidden jet power too." "🌶️ **typepper** — A fast-paced typing game with 5 modes!"

So kde turns 30 years old, and I still remember compiling 1.0 by hand back in the days. Good times.
