#ThreeGoodThings #3GoodThings 1. Just came back from a Halloween party with colleagues. My girlfriend and I discussed with other couples for the first time in a while. 2. New episodes of our favourite series are coming out, including the apothecary diaries. 3. Eating shawarma before bed

#ThreeGoodThings #3GoodThings 1. Drinking my morning tea while listening to silver jews on this nice saturday morning 2. I installed a new motherboard yesterday, worked first try. It's an upgrade but it didn't fix the problem I'm having, right now I'm thinking it's an unstable power source and I will install a UPS. 3. I graded my share of homeworks for one course, only one left. It's about 50 copies in each course.

#3GoodThings #ThreeGoodThings 1. The day started with some tea and a good book. A great way to start a sunday 2. I've had a breakthrough in my research. I'm optimizing agents directly for majority vote performance. Preliminary results look promising, and I can relax until more tests are done in 3 days. Well I have to grade some homeworks in the meantime. 3. We went to an asian grocery store on Friday and bought a lot of great ingredients, including some tasty mushrooms that I used in a...

#3GoodThings #ThreeGoodThings 1. Drove for the first time in a parking lot this weekend. I have a practice Thursday too. Feels weird learning at 29 years old. 2. After two weeks, my kitten is very comfortable in her new home. A bit too comfortable in fact. 3. After a week of vacation I'm back on research, and the project moved enough without me that I don't feel stressed at my return.

Research has me constantly under pressure. I'm 2 years sober of alcohol, I stopped smoking 1 month and a half ago and I don't even drink coffee anymore, only tea, because I was drinking too much coffee. I needed something to decompress. So I started playing video games. But this computer, although it has a RTX 5070 GPU, was built for machine learning development, not for gaming. Yesterday I changed the CPU from a ryzen 5 7600X to a ryzen 7 9800X3D and games run smoothly since t...

I won't be at BSDCan this year because, although I got the okay to take a break from research, my TA workload doesn't allow me to travel and take a break. I'll try to accept less TA contracts next summer to have the opportunity for time off.

So by quitting nicotine and replacing coffee with tea because I was abusing caffeine, I managed to get severely addicted to tea. I wake up in the morning and crave a cup of tea in the same way I used to crave a cigarette. The human brain is very weird sometimes.

Poupou is going to have a little brother! I'm adopting a kitty soon, it's going to be the brown one from this picture. It's been caught with its mother, but the mother is very wild, broke the window screen and ran away. They already eat solid food so it's fine, but might not be very good to separate them from their mother yet. Regardless, I'll adopt him in the coming weeks and plan a visit to the vet for regular wild kitty stuff. #CatsOfMastodon #Cats #...

#ThreeGoodThings #3GoodThings 1. I've received my research grant. With it I bought a new computer chair and it's the most comfortable thing ever. It beats even my couch. 2. Only 2 exams left this week, then I'm dedicating my summer and the next two years to master's research. 3. I ran into an old friend today while coming back from my exam. It's a huge coincidence since he doesn't even live in my city. We spoke for 30 minutes and caught up. It wa...

When I finished high school I didn't really care because I knew I was going further. When I finished college I didn't care because I knew I was going to university. I've never been to a graduation or seen my diplomas. I've just finished all the required university courses, but I've already started a master's degree. This time though they'll send it to me by the mail.

@phooky it's tried and true. While everything else is in constant evolution, crab stays crab. No need for updates or maintenance, it just crabs.
