    The sentiment that critical thinking does not require training or discipline seems to be, sadly, inspired by envy. When people tell you they&amp;#39;ve done there own research on a topic that requires expertise, ask them where they earned their advanced degree. If they can&amp;#39;t say, chances are they are relying on unverified and motivated slop in their research because they don&amp;#39;t have the skills or grit to do research properly and they just want to malign those who do.
