Being informed is the first step to combatting the ongoing destruction of our ecosphere. The capitalists who own and operate traditional media no longer want an informed public, because a society that is knowledgeable is harder to manipulate. Don't make it easy for them.

The reason for creating Brief Ecology stems from the realization that virtually none of the ecological knowledge we’ve created through research and experience is actually used for society’s benefit. Our goal is to explore why that is, and to also collect the major strains of that knowledge in a cohesive, applicable way.

Generative AI is demolishing what little trust remains in online media. It’s getting harder to know what is made by actual, real people. Brief Ecology has a relentless commitment to the human. We don’t use generative AI for *anything*. Human writing for human reading.

More scientific research is published now than at any previous point in history, and yet the majority of it never makes its way to the general public. This is only getting worse now that the billionaires have completely taken over legacy media. Brief Ecology is an attempt to improve this situation, by focusing on recent environmental research and its broader societal significance.

We all know the problems. Fossil fuel emissions are rapidly driving the global climate past functional thresholds. Habitat loss and degradation are dragging global biodiversity down to critical levels. And capitalism is accelerating both processes while exploiting the mass of humanity. The question is what can we do about it? That’s what Brief Ecology is all about.
