It’s a been a week. LinkStack hasn’t crashed again. Maybe I fixed the CPU issue?

@billinkc@beige.party @pmpjr@techhub.social IIRC the meeting maker can do that. I want it function like Zoom, Slack, Discord, Matrix, Mattermost, HipChat, etc where I can override the meeting settings to always be muted when I join any meeting.

@prime@mastodon.gamedev.place The large majority of recent grads I've worked with and even people who are in their early 30s now barely know how to install software.

@User47@vmst.io while I did enjoy the ecobee I had, at least as a Nest replacement, mine had A LOT of weird issues that someone who isn't versed in spotting software bugs would probably have trouble with. Like sending a stupid alert before checking to see if the HVAC is even on first. Or in one case for me ALWAYS reporting terrible air quality unless a desk fan was pointed directly at it blowing full blast. Or having the motion detector randomly spaz out.

The only companies that participate in "Best Place to Work" surveys are those that are so insecure that they feel the need to "game" outside recognition to make themselves feel better about building a hostile and non-inclusive workplace. Every company that participates makes the list because you pay to be nominated for it and there's usually enough HR people to 5 star rate everything that you'll get in regardless. #employment #jobs #workplace

@bss@social.coop Another point here too is that Proton was forced to turn over the payment information, they didn’t just give it up. With a paid account I’d think it would make sense to use email aliases for nearly every communication you have so your actual proton email isn’t exposed. This is built in to ProtonPass. Might not have stopped linking that alias to a payment but it couldn’t hurt.

There is nothing like the loneliness of autism. Desiring some form of connection but finding it too painful to even pursue anymore. Sure, I can manipulate anyone into being my friend. My masking is off the charts when I have the energy for it. I can be anyone you want me to be just by reading you and contorting myself into the perfect doormat for you to walk all over. But I don't seek connections with people that would never accept who I actually am anymore. Which unfortunately is the...

Not that anyone working at Snowflake would even be aware of the Fediverse or Mastodon but I'd love to formally request they keep their fucking Terraform resources up to date with their actual platform updates so shit works a little more consistently. #snowflake #terraform

As WWIII continues to ramp I think we're going to find out moving everything to the cloud was a huuuuge mistake.

@lauren@mastodon.laurenweinstein.org I think its likely ChatGPT or Claude chose obsolete targeting data. Lets not pretend that this entire thing isn't being managed from the top by an LLM for people who can't force themselves to do even 5 minutes of actual work and not by the actual military.

@User47@vmst.io Just install ollama. Then you can use it to pull and run all kinds of models. I just generally use Deepseek-R1 as it's a decent reasoning model and a little more focused for my use cases. You just have to find the right parameter size for your hardware that gives you a reasonable compromise of complexity and utility vs performance. I generally use the 8b model on a mobile 3060 in my laptop.

I will say, building out a terraform project from scratch with some help from Claude has taught me a whole lot more about terraform project structure and abstraction than I ever got from reading blogs. Still not a fan. It still tries to do stupid stuff but its at least been useful as a teaching tool in this instance.

@Binder@petrous.vislae.town I wouldn’t limit this sentiment to just LDS mission trips. Mission trips as a whole.

I’m an admin on a pretty large and very active Discord server but we’ve spent the weekend getting a new self hosted Matrix instance setup. Things are mostly working so far. Having some issues with device registration on mobile and user sync ATM but signups are working and the bones of the services seem to be all functional. I’ll be getting our server sync scripts running this week to start syncing the Discord and Matrix instances to fully pave the migration path. We plan on likely shutting th...

I think the Supercharger network is dying. I’ve been driving EVs for over a decade. Getting a Tesla was revolutionary for my travel because of the extreme reliability of always being able to charge whenever and wherever I was traveling. I didn’t encounter a single dead charging stall for years. On this trip from San Diego to Missouri, there has been at least one dead stall at every single stop I’ve made. Like it or not, EVs as a mode of transportation will completely fail and disappear excep...

@pmpjr@techhub.social @SQLAllFather@techhub.social @billinkc@beige.party What I have is a PC that’s just kind of always on with a multi capture card that takes in video from several sources. I have an output plugged into a really cheap HDMI distributor which then goes into capture cards attached to all of my client machines. The audio from that PC goes into the mixer with all the other sources including my mic. From the central PC I can output any of the video feeds it takes in to any client...

@marcoarment@mastodon.social I have bad news about nearly every product they own for people that think like this. Tim Cook is the literal architect of the supply chain that birthed factories with suicide prevention nets. Not sure being mad at Apple now means anything if you were still buying iPhones made in those factories 10-15 years ago.

So Bill Gates got STDs from girls supplied to him by Jeffery Epstein and had a fight with Epstein over Epstein not giving him antibiotics he could secretly slip to Melinda Gates. Anybody else want to jump in to defend this shitbag this time? Because there always seems to be a few of you. #billgates #epstein
