I know that the turtle on its back Voight Kampf test is not a proper prompt injection, but it is always interesting to see how people's chat-bots respond.

New word: Starshot. A moonshot is where you shoot for the moon, and if you miss you hit the stars (no you don't you end up floating around our solar system aimlessly but let's ignore that for a moment). A starshot is when you say that you're shooting for the stars, but no one has communicated which star you're shooting for so everyone is shooting for a different star. You all miss and achieve nothing.

Accor just sent me an email saying this: "By activating two-step verification via SMS, you add an instant, unbreakable shield to your account. It takes less than 60 seconds to set up, ensuring your personal details, booking history, and points balance remain exclusively yours.” I think they're overselling the security of SMS two step verification, and underestimating the number of users who might lose access to SMS while travelling.

Ah yes: the final step of holidays to the coast: cleaning out the car because it has turned into a tip. At least the kids kind of helped.

Growing up is being two major versions of macOS behind rather than installing the beta.

I think I’ll happily stop coding when I finally find an excuse to deploy a bloom filter in production.

Having to buy a new printer. Not because our old (15 years of service) printer has broken, but because we can no longer get drivers for modern macOS. The printer uses an old proprietary Xerox PDL which there’s sparse Linux support for (I tried and failed to set up a CUPS server on a Raspberry Pi to act as an interface) Now to find the least-bad option. I don’t know that the “Just buy the brother printer” advice still holds out. Kyocera have a model at a significantly cheaper cost per page.

TIL: Kosovo still does not have an official ISO 3166-1 code.

I’m seriously impressed. I bought a printer on Wednesday and it arrived yesterday from Sydney. I live in regional NSW so I kind of expect 4+ days for something to ship (worse if it’s Aramex or TeamGE). Is this what it’s like to be in the big smoke?

I'm really enjoying folks getting onboard with Angine de Poitrine. It feels like for some reason (maybe it's the costumes, maybe it's just everyone was ready for some microtonality and shifting meters) folks have got on board with this magically weird music. Some people are describing it as the anti-AI music. I think it's fair that AI probably wouldn't have created something like this on its own. I love the creativity and pushing of limits. If the respons...

Is anyone else seeing an increase in phishing campaigns sent from compromised ActiveCampaign / Mailgun / Constant Contact accounts? I've seen a bunch of ActiveCampaign phishes attempting to phish for more ActiveCampaign credentials – seems like these are valuable these days. I guess you get through some spam detection based on all the work these platforms have done on deliverability. One would have thought they'd invest on stopping the spam so they can maintain that deliverabil...

It seems like Constant Contact are aggressively bad at managing phishing on their platform.

Somehow I’ve managed to come this far with out reading Rittel & Webber's "Dilemmas in a General Theory of Planning”[1] (ie. "wicked problems”) or Conway's “How do committees invent?” (ie. Conway's Law). I've had the pleasure of needing to this week, and they're both bangers. In the name of team cohesion, I set my team homework of watching the “Marge vs the Monorail" Simpsons episode. Basically I communicate most effectively in Simpsons references and these Gen Z types don't get them.

Somehow my word doc with 959 words and a table has exploded to be 3MB. I am not sure why.

There is something very special about receiving a phishing campaign trying to steal ActiveCampaign credentials which is sent using SendGrid.
