Finally, #JUPITER crossed the 1 ExaFLOP/s threshold today. The list is lying to you, though, it's not like it's 1000 PFLOP/s exactly, it's 1000.184 PFLOP/s; the rest got lost to rounding. The 184 TFLOP/s are pretty much exactly the same as the previous #JSC supercomputer JUGENE from 2008. Incredible, that this gets lost in the margins only 17 years later. https://mastodon.social/deck/@fzj_jsc@social.fz-juelich.de/115566616685186256 #HPC #exa_JUPITER

Not sure I even have German followers here, but: Zusammen mit @bne86 habe in einem Podcast über #JUPITER berichtet: https://codeforthought.buzzsprout.com/1326658/episodes/18342781-de-jupiter-hpc-fur-die-wissenschaft-mit-a-herten-und-b-von-st-vieth (Follow-Up-Fragen beantworte ich gerne, z.B. hier.) #HPC #exa_JUPITER

Moved my Home Assistant installation finally from a Raspberry Pi 4B to a small Intel box (J5005 CPU), since 32 bit ARM is not supported anymore. The main parts were already entirely using Docker, and after also moving other host-side remnants (SSH keys) or replacing them with HA-confined alternatives (the wallbox integration now has web API support instead of MQTT), it was pretty smooth. #homeassistant #hass #64bit

Our simulation of a universal quantum computer with 50 qubits got published: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0167739X26002268. We used 4096 #JUPITER nodes for it, mostly for the memory – because of the Grace-Hopper superchipiness we could also use CPU RAM well. The algorithm is pretty communication-intensive – I use it also to test features and peculiarities of the system. I still have a bunch more system-related data with JUQCS. Maybe I find time to put together for a paper e...

In this work, https://doi.org/10.1063/5.0334617, we worked together with computational material/chemistry researchers within a nationally funded project (MExMeMo) and optimized their two applications. Also, we coupled both apps together to collaboratively simulate with different methods, using an orchestrator in between. Pretty cool! We have an ISC paper coming with a few more #HPC details. #paper

Sitting through talks at a large conference, I am pretty annoyed by AI text in slides, be it AI-generated content or (maybe worse) AI lingo creeping into human-generated content. „It’s not just <something>, it‘s a revolution of <something>“; „Why this is important“; headlines with „the“; etc.. This is so artificial and average. And boring.
