Seeing my favourite programming language being the subject of a news item on all major news websites in The Netherlands is .... weird

also: interesting to see people use this situation as a reason to (again) hate on PHP. While, if anything, the way this is handled so far seems to me more like the ultimate proof that a) PHP is NOT dead (a patch is already ready) and b) PHP takes security very serious

I'm impressed by everyone involved in this whole process of patching the PHP issues and dealing with it. PHP contributors, security researchers, a lot of volunteers, but also hosting providers that immediately jumped into action. A major thank you to everyone involved in this patch. #php #php2shell

Additionally, this is an interesting read for the team that found the vulnerabilities: https://www.wiz.io/blog/php2shell-php-rce

So, today took an unexpected turn. I had not expected to be explaining on Dutch national television what PHP is and what happened with #php2shell today.

Really want to submit to #phpday as well, but really wondering if I should do that. I'd love to be there again as it is the best European conference in existence at the moment, but the travel is quite long (I don't fly to conferences anymore, so I have to take the train). I'll give it a bit more thought.

@ploi@phpc.social heya! I was looking at your offering, and it's looking good! Any chance you're working on adding Dutch server providers such as Tilaa or TransIP?

Doing the same talk twice in three days, trying to implement the feedback from the first time in the second instance, is really nice. and now the second time I got some more useful feedback. This talk is quickly improving! Thanks to everyone who was at my talk at #unkonf today and for the feedback!
