This was a great view and a balm to my soul in this era of political darkness in the US. I'll just say it's a great practical watch on what progress looks like from this point in history. Really countered the doomerism I've been feeling. Not cured, but helped it. I'll attach some of my more jaded observations in the thread below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaDtAOWgKdQ

I think it's great that people are looking into OpenBSD as an alternative to Linux, now that Linus has signaled the end of its short rise to relevancy for desktop users. But the takeaway for me with everything going on, is that the principles of FOSS have failed. They are perhaps a good start, but they are easily co-opted by interests without principle or moral compass. They are far too welcoming of capital and its desire to assimilate and hollow out what makes something good.

I, Tonya A strange, almost avant-garde sequel to 2004 Action/Sci-fi film I, Robot. It became controversial because of the producer's decision to not bring Will Smith back. Many speculate it was because of Will Smith's phobia of ice skating and East German Olympic judges.

Microsoft board room. A man stands up and motions to a slide deck on screen. "After millions of dollars in research, we've come to an inescapable conclusion. What gamers want is... caps locks." *Audible gasps* "We found that 90% of their interactions involved nothing but conversations in all caps. Once we discovered that the rest fell into place." "My God... The answer was in front of us all this time." "Precisely Rob...

Mastotip: If you tag person x in a DM with person y, both x and y will be able to see what you said. A common workaround is to put spaces between the @ sign and the username (I.e. @ sandrockcstm @ orbitalstation.one). This is really key if you are discussing a moderation related issue with an admin, say if person x is harassing you. If you tag that person you can inadvertently get them to see the conversation. This is not clear from the UI and a common trap for new users.
