Took a trip to the cabin today. Needed to transfer fuel into the tank. Found the power off and couldn’t get a generator going. Victor Bay has mostly iced over. Arctic Bay a couple of days ago. About two weeks later than what I know as normal. Nice to get out, nearing the end of going by ATV as the temperature is dropping and although the trail isn’t bad that could change quickly. Almost time to park them for the winter. Sure is pretty out there. #CabinLife #Nunavut.

Football story. I played flag football in high school. When I got to university I put pads on for the first time. Grabbing the first helmet that fit, I had no clue that it was a quarterback helmet. Its face mask was a single bar. I started on the offensive line. The first snap the d lineman opposite of me punched me in the face, cutting me below my eye. Next snap he punched me again, bloody nose. Next snap he punched me again, cutting me above the other eye. My jersey was a bloody mess. The...

Happy Thanksgiving to you all. I have many, many, things to be thankful for. Family, food in my belly, a roof over my head, health, love, love. I am a lucky man. And I am grateful. I know not everyone has these things and the other myriad of things I have to be thankful for. I know that I carry a lot of privilege that others may not. I wish everyone did. Still I’m grateful for all I have and especially those in my life who enrich it beyond measure. Enjoy your day, whether you celebrate than...

Turned out to be quite the day off. Somewhat unexpectedly we had a cruise ship. Leah’s cousin was one of the cultural interpreters on board and convinced the captain to make Arctic Bay a stop. So this morning we wee invited out to the boat with the cultural performers and others and had lunch. In the afternoon we took Leah’s cousin, the captain, the other cultural interpreter, and three other crew/expedition staff out to the cabin. We at maktaaq and bannock, drank tea, and visited. Late gett...

Has anyone considered the possibility that McConnell is a zombie? I mean he’s starving because he’s surrounded by Republicans and, well, brains.
