"Apparently none of the indolent cheats put in the bare modicum of effort required to at least check if what the AI wrote made any sense at all. All they did was copy-paste the midterm instructions into a chatbot, then copy-paste the chatbot’s spiel back into the answer window." https://futurism.com/future-society/professor-hides-white-font-ai-cheating

Another emotional moment. The ex-military Carawagon ("Tactical Command Post aka "Commanders Caravan") left my ownership today. It was my first military Land Rover, and it has taken me to (and provided accommodation at) many interesting events. Classic leaf-sprung Land Rovers area bit too slow and clumsy for modern, aggressive road traffic, and ex-military vehicles were a more interesting hobby back when the prospect of war was more remote.

This picture shows the 4 reasons the Artemis Moon Mission isn't getting as much attention in the US as it deserves. 1) The mission was planned by the Biden administration 2) The crew includes a Canadian, a Pilot of color, and a female engineer 3) It was done by NASA, not SpaceX (Musk) or Blue Origin (Bezos) 4) The ESM, the primary power and propulsion component was made by Airbus, based on an European Space Agency design

"In the Oumi analysis, Gemini 2 provided answers that were “ungrounded” 37 percent of the time, meaning the AI Overviews cited websites that didn’t support the information they provided. But with Gemini 3, this jumped to 56 percent. On top of suggesting that the AI is pulling facts out of thin air, ungrounded responses make it difficult for users to verify the AI’s claims." https://futurism.com/artificial-intelligence/google-ai-overviews-misinformation

"NOT ALL wars have a winner. But every war has at least one loser and if—a big if—the ceasefire marks the end of the war in Iran, the biggest loser will be Donald Trump. The conflict has set back his chief war aims and revealed the shallowness of his vision for a new way of wielding American power." https://www.economist.com/leaders/2026/04/09/donald-trump-is-the-wars-biggest-loser

Once again protectionism, cronyism and government-blessed monopolies (as long as you pay off the right people). "One exception to the general absence of US-made routers is the newer Starlink WiFi router. Starlink is part of Elon Musk's company SpaceX." https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c74787w149zo

Can't believe that my "modern" motorcycle is more than 25 years old. Somewhat mixed feelings about it being gone, as well as about my motorcycling days being over.

Actually no. Werner Herzog didn't say this. It is still worth saying.

Remember the 1997 movie "Wag the Dog", where the President of the United States starts a fake war to distract from a sex scandal involving an underage girl? Oh, and the producer dies of "heart attack at home" when he threatens to go public... https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120885/

The Middle East travel situation is bad enough as it is, but if Georgia, Armenia or Azerbaijan get involved in the currently ongoing conflicts, travel between Europe and Asia could be rather badly disrupted.

The old myth about people getting more conservative when they get older seems only be true for people born before 1955. The ones born 1955-1980 seem not to change their view, and people born since 1980 get more liberal as they get older.
