@catvaxlax As the old joke goes, Vivaldi is supposed to have written 500 concertos, whereas he really wrote one concerto 500 times.

@kityates exactly the point I've made on many occasions. Those who complain about the effects of lockdown conveniently ignore the fact that delayed cessation of flights and large sporting events plus an inadequate Test Trace Isolate system is the reason lockdown was necessary.

Had a quick look at the bird site today. It's a festering mass of racism. A GB News presenter put a picture of Enoch Powell on his profile, people are complaining about Albanians celebrating their independence day, and the decrease in Christianity (according to the census) is being blamed on Muslims. I feel like I've just washed my face with sewage.

@zoskiacultus@metalhead.club No, I avoid the site in general. Just occasionally have a look on another account (closed my account recently). Might go and have a look for that antivax filth though.

Twitter has stopped its anti covid misinformation policy. If you want to see the effect of this, go there and search "vaccine". It's horrifying. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-63796832?xtor=AL-72-%5Bpartner%5D-%5Bbbc.news.twitter%5D-%5Bheadline%5D-%5Bnews%5D-%5Bbizdev%5D-%5Bisapi%5D&at_campaign=Social_Flow&at_bbc_team=editorial&at_medium=social&at_ptr_name=twitter&at_link_id=7E8AB1F8-705B-11ED-8BE2-FE894744363C&at_...

@kityates I like the idea of using just part of the virus. Surely, in this day and age, we can trick the body's own cells to make something identical to a key part of the virus. That would be better than injecting something made in a lab wouldn't it?

As journalists migrate from the bird site its importance as a source of information will diminish. Please follow and boost journalists on Mastodon https://mastodon.social/@tiffanycli/109521975075886371

I love the story about Gauss at the beginning of this. But, even more than that, it encompasses so many of the concepts that have been missed by covid deniers, antivaxers, climate change deniers and other opionated people. In short, most of the idiots on social media have the views they have because they don't unscientific mathematics https://fb.watch/h-Y2v3plb5/
