  It's surprising how loud a mouse scurrying through dead leaves sounds at night. I thought we had a deer in the yard, or that one of the horses was out. But it was just a mouse, or mice, and a lot of dry willow leaves.

  Going by the noises coming from the hole in the wall of the owl house (a barn), Mister Barn Owl better get his arse there sharpish, preferably with a plump rodent in his beak. Missus Barn Owl has need of his services.
