Been pestering Sis about some of Mom's estate business. She graciously worked with me today to contact relevant companies to initiate what, to me, is essential action in a timely manner. Although she found the calls stressful, she agreed this will actually help her prepare for probate court. She let me demo a vinegar solution to clean carpet mold/mildew and was impressed with results. Expensive chemicals aren't necessary, effective, as safe. Homemade chicken soup. Very calming. #3Goo...

Mailed a packet of important family documents, no long line or wait. Very thankful for help provided by the postal worker. We have a court date for probate for early December. The Letters Testamentory will give Sis legal authority as Mom's executor to handle property, hire a broker, manage finances, etc. Tuesday. It's coming so soon. Spotted a 10-foot Skelerico Talarico decoration. Sis quipped, "Electorico!" ๐ ๐ #3GoodThings

Good visit with Sis and the attorney for Mom's estate. Concerns answered, most all positively, and we're talking Probate Court in early December. Only bad thing is getting downtown, cars parked, and in Court by 8:30 am. Our morning traffic is a nightmare! Helped Sis complete some important paperwork that I've been pestering her to do the last couple of weeks. Should get it all mailed tomorrow, whew! Treated ourselves to Schlotzky's for supper, turkey bacon club for me and Hubby....

Took a big box of their wish list art supplies and puzzle books to the hospice that took care of Mom in her last days: coloring books for kids and adults, sketch pads, paper, crayons, colored pencils and sharpeners, felt-tip pens--it was a good haul. Art therapy is good for everyone, regardless of skill level. Folks there are so kind. I needed to do this for them. Renewed my vehicle registration and filled up the gas tank. Midway through my Fringe Binge, woot! ๐ #3GoodThings

Working most all day, business paperwork for Brother and me, water plants, shred paperwork, get the trash out for pick up, etc. Hubby is sleeping & eating better these days I've been home more often, and the stress of Mom's last weeks are behind us. Time sense is so distorted. I can't believe we're so close to our national election day. So many of us are desperate for democracy to sweep back in strength. Our hope is strong, though it will take time to heal what's been...

Had a brief but pleasant visit with Brother and his family. A day spent being, as Mom would say, as lazy as a puddle. Very restful. I think I'm on the verge of a nap in my chaiiiirrrzzzzaaaaw.... ๐ด #3GoodThings

Relaxing with sultry, chill noir jazz. No doubt there're more sophisticated offerings available, but these are pleasant, if anyone's interested: @velvetnoir-e2k?si=JT-r01tdJO_ULp0o@youtube.com Hubby's spiffy sci-fi, changing color, tiny LED globe lamp arrived. Helped him assemble it. So cool! Boys and their toys, yep, but I like it, too. More work done cleaning up Mom's house. Mosquito swarms were vile outside, but I survived vacuuming 3 rooms and navigating the basement stairs...

โ Very pleased that Diary of a CEO YT podcast today dropped an excellent interview with Ukraine's President Zelensky. Supporting Ukraine is SO important to the democratic free world. The interview is here: https://youtu.be/5x9dkYIRb58?is=rZFKX2HHyvLXEB5E โ Very positive meeting with the tax adviser for Mom's estate and my siblings. โ The privilege of living in a democracy, however under siege by its current plutocratic kakistocracy. #3GoodThings #Ukraine #Zelensky #RussiaUkraineWar

We voted. Our polling place was a Disability Rights office, & they let Hubby cut in line to vote when I let them know he isn't physically capable of standing for long in line.โค๏ธ I caught City workers as they were paving over our and neighbor's water meters, where the water shut-off valves are. I fussed like an angry squirrel until they finally understood & shoveled asphalt off most of the manhole covers. Reported to the HOA with photos. Geez Louise! ๐ Tea, antidote to eejitry. ๐คช...

Parsed out a complicated multi-page form that siblings and I need to complete and submit together. Old garage door died, so today we had a new one installed. "And my money has wings to fly..." ๐ต๐ถ (to tune of "Wendy"). Yeah, it's a really huge ouchie for the savings. But at least we HAVE the savings to cover it. When do we break free of this cycle of large, expensive necessities breaking and needing repair? Because I'm pritnear ready to sacrifice a virgin chicken, i...

Finished a few more thank-you letters (helping Sis with hers) and got SIL's BD card ready to mail with them. Ooooo...really good French fries...mmmm! ๐ Found some cleaning methods to try on the mold or mildew or whatever that is on the wall in Mom's hallway. One of 'em's bound to make some improvement. ๐ค Bonus: Been a lovely chilly day, as fall should be. Nice change from our summer 'Hell's Lobby' temps. #3GoodThings

Made a batch of tasty dipping sauce for our Chinese dumplings. Savory, salty, spicy, tangy--mmm! Installed the small new shelf and hand towel rod in the bathroom. Big improvement over trying to hang the towel on a screw sticking out of the wall. The process went more easily than anticipated, yay! Heating pads, awesome relief for offended muscles, #3GoodThings

1. Helped Sis clean and gloss hardwood floors in 2 rooms in Mom's house. Well--cleanER, anyway. Both us old biddies are being treated to some serious grousing from ahgry backs, shoulders, knees, and hips. Owwww... ๐ฌ 2. We're not too decrepit ro push through the grousing body parts and get the job done. 3. New video dropped on YT's The Ghost Tourist on Charleston, SC, which has haunts AND pirates in its history. TV series Fringe is back on Amazon, free for subscribers. Weird science and even weirder, memorable characters. I love this show. Bingey-bingey! ๐คฉ New phone is all set up and 5G means it works at Mom's cell-service-busting house. No more holding up the phone and waving it around while praying for a signal to get through. The Innovasian Veggie Lo Mein was pretty good, much better than expected. Good day working Mom business with Sis. Our progress is heartening. #3GoodThings

Figured out what was shutting down the TV CPU every 15 minutes, and the fix was easy. Grr, Microsoft update foofah! Overcame gumption traps to improve Hubby's laptop speed, so I could scan and print essential documents on our printer, which runs from his laptop. Rain and cooler weather moving in, ah! Bonus: The very old--but reliable--car Mom gave me when she stopped driving last year no longer requires passing inspection to renew its annual registration. One less hassle, nice! #3GoodTh...

New phone secured! Support for old phone ends in Feb '27, and chip prices are set to increase, so now is a good time to upgrade. Next up, several days of tweaking and fine-tuning new phone. The joy of having, perhaps not professional level, but 'many years' worth' of tech-wrangling skills to facilitate these occasional days of upgrades, tweaks, and maintenance. It's a real advantage, and I thank my many excellent tech mentors for it. Black-eyed peas with ham chunks, yum! #...

Finally located the bungee cords I bought last May and put in a place I'd be sure to remember--then didn't. Need them to secure boxes on the hand cart later this week. Salad! I sure missed salad this summer. The satisfaction of having my opinion of a YT podcast guest validated by comments from other critical thinkers who think the irritating man talked much, said little, and even less said anything of sense or value. The plumber was done quickly and did a good job. He charged a fraction of the cost I'd expected, so there's enough left in the budget for the overdue replacement of my cell phone, scheduled for Monday. Clean clean clean! Shower and shampoo are a wonderful entry to the weekend. Made some good dipping sauce for the Chinese dumplings that didn't come with any. Much better made with rice vinegar and brown sugar than with white vinegar and honey. Too much sodium, but oh my! SO tasty....

Despite both being bone weary and a tad snippy, Sis and I had a good work day at Mom's house, with plenty of clowning around to take the edge off our snip-snipes. Completed an essential adulting task I've been procrastinating for the last four days and now anxiety levels are manageable again. Firmed up arrangement for plumber to come tomorrow. Three tasks to do: one's an essential leak fix, two are 'make life better' fixes. Can't wait to get these done! #3GoodThings

Did good research to help make an important decision for long-term benefit. Well, first decision. A follow-up decision is waiting for me a few weeks up the road, but it's all good. Hubby's pain doctor appointment went well and med refills are secured, always a great relief for him to have these in hand. Plumber can come late this week or early next to take care of several small but important needs. #3GoodThings

Persuaded Sis to make a phone call and resolve concerns by talking to the company rep, rather than reacting to panicked assumptions based on confusion and lack of clarity. When in doubt, question, verify, and validate. It will spare you so much hair-pulling and jumping about! Ate a delicious fresh orange. Ordered some pens for art/doodling. I have pens aplenty, but these are special. And...I buy pens when I go through life stressors because they make me happy. And art therapy keeps me grounded. I probably need to buy a pen box, too. ๐ค Hubby gets equal spending, and I like the little Le Chat Noir figurine he's ordered. Classy! Many here were kind enough to follow my posts about Mom. She passed on Sept. 5, shortly after admission to the best hospice in our city. Mom was ready, beyond ready, to go. Her last days were comfortable, pain-free, and peaceful. Closing out a life takes a shocking amount of time & energy, but we're in a good headspac...

Competent, compassionate hospital staff. Getting Mom accepted into our city's best hospice care facility. Picked up Mom's med refills and got her pills d9ne for the week. A quiet day today together. Hubby found a Japanese YouTube channel, DIY with Masa the Cat.
