Mississippi attorney general rules fatal police shooting of one-year-old as ‘justified’ In what world is shooting at a car with a child inside (or even without) justified over a shoplifting? The police drew their weapons. Wiley lifted the baby up to indicate that there was a child in the car. An officer, identified by other records as Sgt Hunter Foster, fired into the vehicle, killing Kohen Wiley and wounding Ferrell. Foster is white; both Wileys and Ferrell are Black. The Mississippi bu...

Not cool: who hacked France’s supermarket fridges? In a “bizarre and unprecedented” cyber-attack, hackers had remotely overridden the temperature settings on thousands of freezers, fridges and chiller cabinets pushing them from as low as -27C (-16.6F) to well over 50C (122F). If shop managers first assumed it was an isolated failure, it soon became clear up to 700 stores – including those from the Intermarché, Coopérative U, Carrefour, Leclerc and Monoprix chains along with a number of smal...

A source close to Amini’s family told the US-based Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRAI) that Amini was sentenced to death on charges of “sab ol-nabi” (insulting the prophet). Amini was arrested by security forces during January’s nationwide protests, which wer...

It's effectively an alternative to plain CSS. Works well with component-based systems like React and Svelte. I used it for a few years and thought it was pretty good. I still use it on some of my projects.

Social housing typically doesn’t look as good as high-end apartments, but it doesn’t have to look terrible. Here’s some pretty neat looking social housing in south Paris. It’s kind of the China Town of Paris. It’s right next to an accessible tram station, has green spaces and social areas spread around, a couple of malls with great independent restaurants right next door. There are cycle lanes all around the place. If you’re curious, here it is on Google Maps I’d live here. I on...

The full translation of the clip of Gaël Duval provided by GrapheneOS: > There's the attack surface, on that front we're not security specialists here, so I couldn't answer you precisely, but from the discussions I've had, it seems that everything we do reduces attack surface. > However, we don't have a "hardened security" approach, we aren't developing a phone for pedo(censored) so they can evade justice. So there aren't difficult things to check if...
