@Ehay2k@mastodon.social We could do away with the stock market forever if we switched the standard corporate model from publicly traded to cooperative. No traded shares, one share per shareholder, shares owned by the people the business supports: workers and/or customers. No more ups and downs from speculative gambling. No more billionaires controlling the lives and welfare of everyday people. No more hostile takeovers. No more inherent conflict of interest between shareholders and the true stakeholders in a business: the workers and customers. People would have enough wealth spread among them, thanks to the inherently wealth-redistributing properties of cooperative dividends, that they could invest using crowdfunding of cooperative startups as a model, instead of wealthy people setting the schedule. We could just make it law that, if they so choose, workers and/or customers could purchase any existing workplace or company at a fair market price, and people could take control of their lives. @briankrebs@infosec.exchange
