yes I know there are constants for a bunch of formats, but bleh, the whole idea of using a 'reference' time to determine the format of the date you're working with is weird and icky

I worked with PHP for most of my professional career and our DATE_ISO8601 / DateTimeInterface::ISO8601 WASN'T EVEN 8601 COMPATIBLE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD But this reference string stuff is so much more annoying 🤣
