‘Twas the night before #BigBake2022
And all through the house
Not a creature was stirring
Except for me, who was busily reviewing my lists and #spreadsheets in fear of having missed something.
*
All the ingredients were packed
On the bookshelf with care
With the hopes that the flour
Would not sprinkle there.
*
And Macy was snuggled
All warm in my bed
While visions of dropped cookies
Danced in her head
*
And me in my PJ’s
And chocolate chips in their packs
Were trying to settle down
For a reasonable snack and a fitful night’s rest
*
When Macy sprang out of my bed, and into the living room
I had to see what was happening and she started to bark
Against a squirrel, Macy defended the home from intrusion
Not really part of the story, but a consequence of living near a park.
*
To the cookie sheets sitting on the counter in wait
And the scale willing valiantly to measure the dough
When suddenly what before my eyes should appear
Heaviness, because I need my sleep and big bake is a marathon, not a sprint.
*
That was fun, maybe I’ll do one of these to summarize each day, lol.
