@KatDawson_Narrator@mastodon.social Anime, including isekai, uses a number of very specific core sound effects, and clips, in fantasy as well as other media. Some of these effects date back to kabuki theater. The goblin 'voices' used in anime follow this pattern across an incredible number of series. (pitch shifted up with some other effects). I find this stock uniformity of goblins somewhat unfortunate. It is made much worse when the animations for individual goblins are copied and pasted, or made from 3d models in order to cheaply represent a horde. Litrpg and isekai share many elements, as the genres have grown. I dearly hope that litrpg goblins are not consigned to such a generic fate... Many litrpg series treat goblins as unique or interesting! ...even if some protagonists are at first hesitant to do so.

@KatDawson_Narrator@mastodon.social Many common descriptive tropes for goblins include a rough, gravelly voice. A harsh, shrill, or grating tongue, pitched higher than humans often have, for their relatively smaller ssize. D&d places goblins around 3' to 3.5' in height. They are often shown to roll their 'r's. In sillier media, there is often a second language speaker sound from goblins. (speaking english, at least) This can include the stretching of some sounds or syllables, as well as patterns of speech or inflection which are repeated. This can often influence the spelling and phraseology of idioms, as well as the speaking cadence. When goblins are portrayed as war-like, or cruel and hateful monsters, their words are often more snappy and less egaggerated and silly. In those cases, the most common themes might be a higher pitched, imperious tone. A goblin war leader might often sound demanding or impatient, and 'yell' or raise their voice in shorter commands. This higher pitched push of sound will often have a bit of grit or friction to it at least. One could justify using heavy or extreme metal vocal techniques, sich as vocal fry or something adjacent to the higher vocal screams found in black metal, for vocal projections, in forceful or war like exclaimations. If a sillier goblin shouts or yells, they might squeal. Hissing is also fun #goblin
