I have to say, one thing they did better in the hotels we stayed at in Scotland 2 years ago than the hotel I'm staying at right now in Essen is that there was always a kettle, tea, milk and sugar for a cuppa. My room here is fine, but they didn't provide even a bottle of water in my room, which is otherwise common in Germany in my experience, despite being part of a large chain 😕
