What a surprise today when I went to the compost heap. There was a heap of yesterday's grass clippings which I wanted to distribute a bit in the compost bay. To mutual surprise, I uncovered two tiny grass snakes!
I was too slow with the mobile to get both of them. and the photo I got, well. However, I feel incredibly proud that my wife and I created an environment that hosts such amazing wildlife 6 km from the centre of a town of ~90,000 people.

@feinschmeckergarten@norden.social Hello to the grass snakes. It is good to see signs of reptiles. Your garden and yard habitat must have shelter, food and prey. Our region has garter and redbelly snakes.
