"What happened to Ali’s family in Deir Jarir is part of a documented and accelerating pattern across the eastern villages of the central West Bank. Since October 2023, Israeli settler groups have systematically targeted Palestinian communities along the axis connecting Deir Jarir, Taybeh, Mughayyir, Turmusayya, and Abu Falah, using violence, intimidation, and the seizure of homes to push Palestinians out of villages they have inhabited for centuries. According to the UN’s humanitarian arm, OCHA, settler attacks and access restrictions have displaced Palestinians across more than 130 communities since January 2023. B’Tselem has documented how the Israeli military routinely escorts settlers during attacks and fails to intervene when Palestinians are targeted.
