I've just got back from 4 days touring. The first morning was a couple of trains across Suffolk.
Warning. UK trains are a special hell. Most lines you need to advance book your bikes on.
Normally a max of 4 bikes per train, which are frequently also the wheelchair/pram carriages.
The bays struggle with a longish wheelbase bike, never mind 4 with full panniers.
First train we were constantly having to do bike Tetris to let people get to the loos.

@ascentale@sfba.social @Kleen@sfba.social @bikenite@fedigroups.social #bikeNite A4 cont 2/ The second train wasn't as bad as we'd only trapped 4 people at the end of the train, and we had plenty of time to rearrange to let them out. Bear in mind that we'd deliberately timed our trains to be out of peak. Totally unfeasible if the trains were busy. Also, these were GOOD trains, no steps to the platform, clearly signed bike carriage, straps to hold the bikes (not that they worked well).
