I just realized that #Xerox is no longer synonymous with copying things.
It used to be that “Xerox” was a verb, much like “Google” is now. But I haven't heard anyone talk about “xeroxing” something in ages.
Vernacular marches on, I guess.

@argv_minus_one@mastodon.sdf.org I realized I had to update my vernacular when my child asked if a TV show was broken when I suggested we tape it (VCR tape/ cassette tape era slang)

@argv_minus_one@mastodon.sdf.org Xerox Corporation was very hostile to that verb. 40 years later, I still say "photocopy." We also didn't say "fax," because that was somebody else's trademark. We said "telecopy."
