Thousands of civilians remain trapped in Russian-occupied Oleshky, Kherson Oblast, as food, water and medicine ran out. #Ukraine has sought an organized evacuation and secured the International Committee of the Red Cross’ readiness to participate. But Russia has not allowed the mission to proceed, while people continue to starve. More than 6,000 people, including 200 children, may remain in Oleshky and the surrounding area. The humanitarian crisis has become so severe that residents are reportedly gathering grass to eat and searching destroyed basements for scraps of food. Some are now risking mined fields to escape because they see no other way out. Russian invaders have shelled volunteer vehicles attempting to bring food and water into Oleshky, with four vehicles reportedly hit during an aid attempt on 1 September. https://euromaidanpress.com/2026/09/18/thousands-are-starving-in-occupied-oleshky-with-no-way-out/ #Ukraine #news #eu #europe #Ireland #uk #europeanunion #usa
