A lot of pro-Palestinian reporting has this underlying tone of continued shock and disappointment at how little the Western establishment cares for your life if you aren't white. I personally find this to be a waste of our energy, since disappointment implies that they can do better. But they can't. The whole point of the NYT, for example, is to convince people that genocides only matter when their victims are US clients (and when they aren't, the NYT's goal is to convince you of the opposite, i.e. that the genocide was justified because the victims were all terrorists anyway). If the NYT starts promoting a pro-Palestinian position, my first reaction isn't relief about finally being heard but confidence that they've found a way to co-opt our message and screw us. It's hard, but it's still crucial: we've got to keep reminding ourselves that the point isn't to be acknowledged, let alone liked, by the lapdogs of the imperial core. The point is to plant the seeds of real humanity, and make these genocide supporters, who put even the Nazis to shame, utterly obsolete.
