August 2023, my bike helmet got stolen and I reported it to the Gardaí (for crime statistics reasons). Got a phone call yesterday (!!!), could I come in and give statement. Was told that they couldn't follow up, bc there is no CCTV in the area. I beg to differ. Yellow is where my bike was parked. #opendata #OpenStreetMap

@BUnicycling@mastodon.ie Imagine you were calling the fire department because your house was burning and the fire brigade showed up after almost three years, only to then tell you that your smoke alarm's battery was dead and that's why they cannot assess the fire damage :blobcatupsidedown:

@BUnicycling@mastodon.ie I wouldn't dream of defending their obvious laziness, but that looks to be a 180° camera, and at that distance your bike would not be many pixels, and the thief wouldn't be recognisable. Ask if you can come and see them in 2030.
