@h3mmy@lgbtqia.space idk if it counts exactly, but my mom is (white af) Puerto Rican? And she did noooooooooooot take kindly to me being nonbinary. Completely unrelated I’m sure: she was fine with it until I said some people categorise it as trans.

@h3mmy@lgbtqia.space It went poorly with every bio family member I've told (re: coming out as queer, poly, AuDHD, etc) I thought religious/cultural values might make a difference (my family is white, but very different geographies & cultures), but it was more the fact that they're all various types of ableist, conservative, blah My spouse's family (also white, different culture/geography than my family) took it great; they're progressive and very much care about their kids as individuals

@h3mmy@lgbtqia.space hmm. Different countries/languages & culture but still both white & flavours of christian. It did not go well, but it did not go dangerously or devastatingly? Mostly because the things that I’ve come out about over the years were just not as obvious to them so they didn’t have to confront it much. With a few notable exceptions 😅. And then there’s the bonus of being no-contact/estranged from most of them on both sides for most of my adult life for unrelated reasons 🤷🏻♀️
