A moment of self indulgence which is best avoided by anyone too fussed about musicianship. In 2016 I had the amazing privilege of meeting #Prince after his piano and a mic concert in Auckland. I had managed to get an invite to his after party where he sat with some woman friend and his security behind a roped off area where my wife and I happened to be dancing. Prince looked kinda bored sitting there eating a plate of nuts and pieces of fruit. The DJ was well below par, not sure the DJ even knew who Prince was, anyhow I took it upon myself to entertain Prince so began pulling out all my best Prince dance moves as he sat there laughing. This went on for about 20 minutes until he decided to leave. He walked up to me as he left and just smiled. My heart was beating so hard I'm sure it was audible. I thanked Prince for sharing his music with us. He gave me a look that seemed to cut through to my very soul. And with that he was gone. About 6 weeks later my wife phoned me to tell me #Prince was dead. A few months later my sister was looking after a friends grand piano so I went over to her house with a couple of cameras and a mic and recorded this tribute.
