I do think people (unfortunately) have a point about Rust getting nazibarred by LLM nonsense, but while some seemingly feel it's evidence justifying how they felt about Rust pre-LLMs to me it's just really disappointing? To me I liked the Rust community (note: subtly distinguishing Rust community from Rust users here) specifically from a care about quality and people, so seeing a movement that explicitly cares less about quality and people co-opt it (both socially and some of the technical benefits made for humans incidentally benefiting LLMs) is rather demoralizing. Like it feels crappy to see "oh of course the Rust community went crazy for LLMs, every Rust project I see these days is slop" because of course the technology for producing slop fast outpaces those putting in time and effort. Obviously this doesn't mean every community member tried to prevent the Nazi bar situation from occurring, but it feels disingenuous to see a lack of activity from those who care as evidence they never did (or perhaps don't/didn't exist)? I for one have been extremely burnt out by this very thing, so obviously I'm less prolific than the person who feels empowered by having no friction in bringing whatever they think of to life but care less about the quality of it
