@rood@aus.social Yes, NZ is doing that too with its modern roundabouts. For cyclists, even when there’s a space designed for cyclists either side of an intersection, once at the busy roundabout it's all about the cars. The signage and design is to get you off your bike and have you dash between cars with the pedestrians, without any right-of-way, and where cars have no obligation to stop. There’s clearly nothing in the design brief for these roads about getting cyclists safely and quickly through intersections. #roundabouts #nz #UrbanTransport #biketooter

@joncounts@mastodon.nz @rood@aus.social Here's a new local junction. Traffic lights rather than roundabout, but we've also got a new, similar, roundabout not very far away. I find that I can pretty well always go through the junction without stopping, one way or another, whatever the state of the lights. (In some cases the choice is to remain on the main carriageway with the motor vehicles, eg if the lights are green.)

@joncounts@mastodon.nz @rood@aus.social I'm not saying drivers give it, but don't pedestrians have right of way when crossing?
