I'm happy for Karen Attiah and grateful to her for sticking up for what's right at great personal cost. There are a lot of positive lessons to draw from this. One of the most important is that this is why we need labor unions, and this is why the fascists are so desperate to destroy and disempower them. #KarenAttiah #WashingtonPost #journalism #unions Arbitrator orders Washington Post to reinstate Karen Attiah with full back pay and benefits https://www.democracydefendersfund.org/news/karen-attiah-secures-landmark-first-amendment-victory/

P.S. I am also grateful to the arbitrator who delivered this decision even though it probably means they'll never get any more business from the Washington Post and the Post will probably bad-mouth them to other companies. Arbitration is a rigged system because arbitrators know that ruling against a company typically means that company will never hire them again. It took real cojones for the arbitrator to do the right thing despite that hanging over their head.

@jik@federate.social One of the sad and infuriating things about 2020s politics is that the voters who really need labour unions badly are the ones empowering anti-union politicians. 🙄
