Most Italians polled by BiDiMedia say the EU should become a true federal union of states. Asked in January 2026 what the EU should do given the international situation, 61% chose a federal union, 27% said it should dissolve, 4% wanted it to keep its current structure and 8% did not know. A federal union wins among voters of every party in the poll except the League, where 64% back dissolving the EU. Support is highest among Democratic Party and centrist voters, at 94% each.
