Searching for sources while writing has now taught me that SpaceX sells a t-shirt with a fucking Kardashev scale diagram on it. It doesn't appear to be an April Fool's Day joke, and it's not even a nice looking t-shirt. UGH. No I won't link to it. UGH UGH UGH.

@sundogplanets@mastodon.social Oh for fucks sake, seriously? The hole idea of this scale is, how civilizations in the far future would look like. We would need a few hundred/thousand more years in space just to be on that list. Speculating about the advanced future used to be a niche hobby/ literature genre. How did a few tech Edgelords high on there own stuff see that and think that that - the interstellar civilizations, future technology, all of that - was about them? Shouldn't they be worried about making our civilization survive for thousands of years to reach that point? Oh no, they are literally hell bend on destroying it in a quest for power... I want my innocent hobby back from these lunatics :blobcatknife:
