I think the only fear here is that he dies before the elections, and the conservatives get some kind of sympathy bump instead of him being alive dragging them down…

I don’t think it gets sympathy, but apathy. “Trump was my guy, no point in voting now. Might as well stay here and drink.” I could be wrong, but I’d love to be presented with empirical evidence of that. I’d have the biggest grin while congratulating you on your prognostication.
