@TidalFlats@mastodon.coffee Apropos of Woody & Bari, I was thinking of the wonderful Hal Ashby movie about him, "Bound for Glory," which I can't recommend enough, and also can't find on any streaming service. The same is true of Ashby's flick about consequences of the Vietnam War, "Coming Home." Or for that matter, John Sayles' "Matewan," about a West Virginia coal mine strike. It's almost as if the Lords of Streaming don't want us to have any entertainment with cultural messages that don't stroke their egos.

@TidalFlats@mastodon.coffee One of the highlights of Obama's first inauguration was hearing Pete Seeger perform verses I, who'd grown up a folkie, had never heard before: 🎶 As I went walking I saw a sign there And on the sign it said "No Trespassing" But on the other side it didn't say nothing That side was made for you and me In the shadow of the steeple I saw my people By the relief office I seen my people As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking Is this land made for you and me? 🎶

@TidalFlats@mastodon.coffee Just watched. Great fun: respectful of the original but also innovative.
