@nickofnz@mastodon.nz Actually self-driving cars would be the only benefit of AI and similar technologies. Self-driving cars means less cars, less accidents, less noise polution and probably less energy consumption.

The people trying to make them now, and presumably any company trying to make them in the future, will want to sell *more* of them, not less. You could argue that successful self-driving cars (we're nowhere close) might be *safer*, but even that's up in the airl
