The “rules” in politics no longer apply. Trump has proven you can do whatever you want with the attitude of “oh, you don’t like it, make me stop.” And so far, litterally no one has. In fact he’s been rewarded for it.
So why on earth are the Democrats so beholden to “rules” and “norms” that don’t exist?
It’s like the Democrats are playing a game strictly by the rule book and appealing to some referee who doesn’t exist, while the Republicans disregard all rules and norms and win.

@aburtch@triangletoot.party If you recall the first GOP debate in 2016, Trump was lobbing insults at everyone on stage. Jeb Bush had this look on his face like "you can't say that". Trump crumpled up decorum like a piece of paper and threw it in the trash. The GOP instantly fell in line. It was a bloodless coup d'etat.

@aburtch@triangletoot.party Conversely when Walz was set loose calling the GOP weird that seemed to hit *on the streets* but of course the Dem establishment muzzled him, just like they've been muzzling progressive candidates and ideas for a long time smh.
