We had family over for dinner last night and ended up having a conversation about how much I miss having a daily paper to read in the morning. I relayed stories of going through the box scores and statistics in the sports section before I did anything else from the time I had an interest as a kid until the day I stopped our major daily subscription.
Does anybody know whether we process physical text differently than we do digital text?
And does anybody else miss newspapers?

@serpicojam@mas.to I definitely concentrate better and retain more information if I'm reading physical text. I've always got a couple of books checked out from the library and I subscribe to a few physical magazines. Having said that, I do love getting my news from a wide variety of sources from all over the world. That wasn't easy to do before the internet!

@serpicojam@mas.to You may find this article interesting. Gift link, but maybe you can get the physical magazine. https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/2026/08/reading-crisis-postliterate-age/687618/?gift=caZ8OZQK_hJhCh1gdK_Z7QWwDkWj1716ZvOR_UdlpbE&utm_source=copy-link&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=share
