Those saying that binning doesn’t work if you need more Neo chips, that’s not quite true. Binning doesn’t just give you something to do with "bad" chips, it increases your yield by turning what were useless chips into useful chips. Apple can afford to put some chips that could otherwise be used elsewhere into Neos and still make money simply by virtual of the improved financials the higher yield gives them.

Additionally, Neo is now THE HIGHEST LINE item that A18 pros go into. A18 is not an iPhone 17 chip, it's an iPhone 16 chip. So it’s not like there is an iPhone 17 that they go into. There’s absolutely no issue if something else has to give a little to let Neo continue. Apple has an embarrassment of riches here. And no one who is paying attention should be surprised that this worked out well for them. Apple knows exactly what they are doing when it comes allocating chips to product lines.
