The #Sony physical media firestorm going around is frustrating me so much. "Selling" licenses to #games they can take away again is literally the same thing #Steam does, but all these comment threads are full of people ranting about leaving Playstation to go to Steam. It's a bigger issue than Sony. It's a bigger issue than video games! Ebooks, audiobooks, any digital rights managed shit.
What does good look like? GOG. (Are they on Fedi?) Give us the installers. Don't use DRM.

I wonder what’s @grumpygamer@mastodon.gamedev.place view on this.

@tomasino@tilde.zone > physical media firestorm Physical digital media are also becoming a thing of the past, their obsolescence planned. In another decade or two, CD players will be just as rare as 5.25-inch floppy disk drives are today. Not to mention 8" drives. Then still there are real physical media: you can listen to vinyl record content on a player made of wood, with a hand-crank drive, and play the music quite loud using a large leaf sharpened at the tip. @rysiek@mstdn.social
