Well, it's happening.
I just signed up for my first ever author event! 🥳
I have 7 weeks to prepare an aesthetically-pleasing display, order books, and possibly acquire a tent (it's rain or shine).
Authors who've done something like this, I have questions.
– How many books should I have on hand?
– What kind of swag, if any, is appropriate?
– Should I order a banner or blanket for the tabletop?
Any insight is appreciated. Thank you! 🙏

@SJHoodlet@writing.exchange congrats! Number of books depends kind of event. How many attendees. How long the event runs. How many separate titles you have for sale. If you're driving to the event & have space in the car & storage after the event, 40 books is a good aspirational goal. That can be 1 title or split between many, though best to have more of a 1st title in a series. Swag? Bookmarks w/your website & email or biz cards. Maybe a way to sell ebooks? Do collect emails for a newsletter. Good luck!!
