@vicfroh@mastodon.social I feel the word "socialism" has long being used as a bogeyman, especially in the US. The easy association was with all their countries that declared themselves as being "socialist", and that failed usually, falling in some authoritorian regime - which can't be of any social utility. Socialism is hard to apply with success to large communities, from what I've seen up to now. Maybe there's some connection with social groups theory, and the limited number of individuals involved.

@vicfroh@mastodon.social there's nothing more anti-American than a business who has to clean up after itself.

@vicfroh@mastodon.social billionaires are afraid of socialism. They are afraid of the oppressed people who have been made to suffer under their rule taking back their destiny. 1917 shook the world.

@vicfroh@mastodon.social what about individuals who , say, buy a giant SUV shouldn't those individuals pay ? or people who put a pool in their backyard, the incredible amount of toxic chemicals used to make the water safe - shouldn't those people pay ? and what about people who eat meat a lot, or do a lot of vacations by car/jet plane or or or
