One of the main reasons people are seeking alternatives to Big Tech social media is the threat these platforms pose to democracy, particularly through algorithms that amplify polarization and hate speech. If we can't convince democratic institutions and influential public figures to join the #Fediverse, its potential to make political communication less dependent on Big Tech infrastructure will remain very limited. I don't blame the many journalists and civil society organizations that have chosen #Bluesky instead. They are important allies in defending democracy. That's one of the main reasons I believe bridges between these two decentralized spaces are so important. #Journalism #Democracy #BigTech #SocialMedia #LeaveX #JustBridge

  • @everton137@social.vivaldi.net They are important allies in defending democracy. allies insofar as they are not x/tictok et al. but they are not allies to the idea of the fediverse. bluesky still doesn't offer the possibility to leave with all your data and set up shop somewhere else. so once you get invested there you have to stay no matter what they decide. what will happen when those guy who invested there will want their roi?
